Honda Amaze Facelift Review: 2021 Honda Amaze Facelift Review; In search of the right balance | – times of India

New Delhi: Honda Cars claims that the Amaze’s comfort level is a notch above the competition. Denying this fact a bit, when the features and looks are compared, the Amaze is at a loss.
Looks like that could be answered with the facelifted avatar of 2021. Or does the Amaze still remain your family car with a bit of convenience and a dated look? Well, read on to know:

Installing it:
Amaze is available in three trim lines E, S and VX. While the major design changes remain the same across all trims, the VX carries on with the lion’s share of features and cosmetic enhancements. The Amaze is available in 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options, mated to a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox.

Mechanically, the Amaze remains unchanged from the BS6 upgrade. Petrol and diesel manual prices start at Rs 6.32 lakh and Rs 8.66 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. Whereas the VX CVT trims will set you back Rs 9.05 lakh and Rs 11.15 lakh (ex-showroom) for the respective engine options.
Looks like:
The Amaze with Diesel (i-DTEC) engine paired with a manual transmission is a thrifty but nipple mile-munching machine. With a good ride and handling, the Amaze was a lot to like.
However, the pre-facelift design appears to be a hasty act. The flat chrome chunk that sat on the chin looked like the designer was working on an extended deadline. Fortunately, that has all been fixed now.

The inspiration is from the new city. The main part at the top has a bulge and some chrome lines to give width and more aesthetic depth to the chin.
If you are planning to buy the VX trim, the headlights have been extensively updated with auto LED projectors and LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLS). The LED fog lamps have been modified so their layout is in line with the grille.
Continuing the sides, the VX trim also packs new dual-tone alloy shades on the 15-inch wheels and chrome door handles. The party piece is the C-shaped tail light. Though it looks like the old one, Honda claims that it has been revamped to give a 3D effect. Well, we couldn’t witness the visual drama in broad daylight, however, as the lights can add bling to the simple tail.

Creature Comfort:
Let me touch on what was already luxurious inside the cabin. The quality of the interior exudes a sense of durability, the seats are supportive and the air conditioning is quite effective.
Honda has worked on the infotainment system, especially on the VX trim. The 7-inch screen, which still looks like an afterthought, gets Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and reverse camera functionality.

The black dashboard, steering wheel and gray embellishments around the AC accentuate the color contrast. The VX trim also gets new, light-themed upholstery that doesn’t go unnoticed. There also remains a dust and pollen filter under the radar and a new inner lining on the trunk lid.
Decision:
It is a balance Honda Cars India tried to find between performance and practicality. The company’s best selling Amaze is a jack of all trades and a master of none. However, the changes made through the facelift add ammunition to fight the war to entice the customer. All said and done, it is disappointing to see the classic three-box sedans shrink and be replaced by SUVs.
