Honda confirms plans to launch new SUV in India next year: Creta, Seltos rival in the works – Times of India

Honda Cars India is one of the few manufacturers that is yet to enter the ever-growing mid-size SUV segment – a space that has been booming over the years. Now it is confirmed that Honda is all set to launch its mid-size SUV in India just like next year.
New Honda SUV Will stand directly against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushak, Volkswagen Taigun along with other similarly priced SUVs. Note that Honda is yet to reveal any information about its upcoming mid-size SUV. Also, the company does not currently have any SUV in its line-up, with Amaze, City and City E: HEV (hybrid) driving most of the sales.
Back in 2020, Honda closed its Greater Noida facility, resulting in the discontinuation of premium offerings like the Civic and CR-V – both of which were assembled there from Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits. Now, the company uses its Tapukara, Rajasthan facility to manufacture the Amaze, City, Jazz and WR-V.
Honda also plans to discontinue slow selling products such as Jazz, WR-V and the fourth generation City by the end of this financial year. The company revealed that it is looking at various sectors keeping in mind the electrification strategy. With the City e:HEV, Honda became the first manufacturer in India to launch the robust-hybrid car in the mass market earlier this year.
