Honda is now the largest two wheeler brand in India! Hero surpasses MotoCorp’s market share – Times of India

Honda Motorcycles & Scooters India & Heroes motocorp It has been making headlines for a few days as the former has overtaken Hero in terms of retail sales in the month of September 2022. and now Federation of Automobile Dealers Association ,FADA) released today vehicle retail data for this month. According to this data, Honda 2 Wheelers now has the largest market share in the country at 27.98 per cent.
In the same month last year, Honda’s share was 25.83 per cent, which was lower than Hero MotoCorp’s 29.91 per cent, now it is 27.98 per cent higher than Hero’s 24.64 per cent.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) on Monday reported 7.6 per cent growth in overall sales at 5,18,559 units in September. The company had sold 4,81,908 units in the same month last year. hmsi said in a statement.
Domestic sales grew by 5.44 per cent to 4,88,924 units as against 4,63,683 units in September last year.
Hero MotoCorp on Saturday reported a decline of 1.95 per cent in overall sales to 5,19,980 units in September 2022. The company had sold 5,30,346 units in the same month last year. Hero Motocorp said in a statement.
Domestic sales stood at 5,07,690 units last month as compared to 5,05,462 units in September 2021. However, exports were lower at 12,290 units as against 24,884 units in the year-ago month, the company said.
Hero MotoCorp said, “The company remains optimistic about customer demand in the coming weeks during the peak festive season. Normal monsoon and encouraging agricultural activity over most parts of the country is likely to contribute to the positive customer sentiments.
In related news, Hero MotoCorp is all set to launch its first electric two-wheeler in India on October 7. This could impact the company’s retail sales in the coming months, bringing Hero and Honda’s race for market share neck and neck.
