Honda Racing announces team for 2022 Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship

The five-round season of INMRC 2022 will see Honda’s two satellite teams competing in the Pro-Stock 165 cc. In addition, the IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup will have 11 riders in the NSF250R Cup and nine riders in the CBR150R category.

Beginning the racing season this weekend at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore, Honda Racing India announced its rider squads for the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC) and the IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup. The five-round season of INMRC 2022 will see Honda’s two satellite teams competing in the Pro-Stock 165 cc. Apart from INMRC, IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup which is further divided into two categories. As part of the Talent Cup, the 2022 NSF250R Cup will see 11 young riders competing on the Moto3 machine. Meanwhile, the CBR150R category will have nine riders on the grid, with the youngest being 12. Honda Hornet 2.0 One Make Race will also be conducted in five rounds and will give 15 customers across the country to ride Hornet 2.0 race bikes.

Speaking on the 2022 season, Prabhu Nagaraj – Operating Officer, Brand & Communication, HMSI said, “Filled with inspiration and enthusiasm, we are gearing up for the 2022 season of the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship. This time around, we are going to engage with our three experts. Here are the riders – Rajeev Sethu, Senthil Kumar and Abhishek V, who are vying for the title in the PS165 cc of the National Championship. In parallel, 20 young guns have renewed energy to step onto the racetrack with the IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup and Racing being an integral part of Honda’s DNA, we are delighted to make motorsports accessible to our customers with the Honda Hornet 2.0 One Make Race. With an impressive line-up and our expert team We are confident that the 2022 season will bring us glory.”

In the pro-stock 165 cc category, Honda will field its international riders Rajiv Setu and Senthil Kumar of the IDEMITSU SK69 Honda Racing Team. The riders are representing India at the Asia Road Racing Championships and will apply their learnings at the National Championships. Abhishek Vasudev of Ask Honda Racing Team will join Rajeev and Senthil.

The youngest rider in the Honda CBR150R category is just 12 years old

In the IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup NSF250R, 11 riders will ride the same Honda machine as the Moto3 champion. This includes Rakshit S Dave, Johan Reeves Emmanuel, Theopol Leander of Chennai, along with Prakash Kamat of Bokaro Steel City, who have been promoted from the CBR150R Cup. The team will comprise of Pune’s Sarthak Chavan, Chennai’s Shyam Sundar, Bengaluru’s Samuel Martin and AS James, Velachery’s Mohsin P, Trichy’s Raj Dashwant and Belgaum’s Vivek Rohit Kapadia.

In the CBR150R category of the Talent Cup, the grid will see three new riders – Bidani Rajendra, Syed Mohammed and Pothu Vignesh from Telangana, after being selected from the IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Hunt held in Hyderabad earlier this year. He will be joined by Rahesh Khatri from Mumbai, Siddhesh Sawant from Kohlapur, Shyam Babu and Ashwin Vivek from Chennai; Harshit Bogar from Bengaluru and Steve Waugh Sugi from Trichy.
