Criticism of Congress leader after state’s decision to conduct survey to open drug de-addiction center

After Haryana After the government decided to conduct a survey to open drug de-addiction centers in the state, Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Friday that the government has completely failed to curb the drug menace in the last few years.

“The government is now conducting survey to open de-addiction centers across the state. Whereas his first task is to curb this black empire by taking strict action against drug dealers. The government has completely failed to fulfill its responsibility. The young generation of the state and their innocent families are bearing the brunt of this,” Mr Hooda said in a statement.

Mr Hooda said that the youth of Haryana are facing unprecedented times of unemployment, which is pushing them towards drugs. “The youth are constantly falling prey to drugs and crime due to unemployment. If we look at the latest NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau) data, we can see that Haryana has left behind bigger states in terms of crime rate,” he said.

He said that during the rule of the Congress government, he had laid special emphasis on improving law and order, providing employment to every youth and promoting sports. “Due to the establishment of rule of law and order, criminals either fled the state or were jailed during our tenure. At that time, due to better law and order, there was a lot of investment and employment generation in the state. Therefore, during the tenure of Congress, the trend of youth of the state increased towards education, career and sports. But the policy and failure of the present government has pushed the youth of the state into the abyss of unemployment, drug addiction and crime.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal on September 8 directed the officials of the Health Department to conduct a survey of the need for de-addiction centers in the state and find out how many de-addiction centers are required in which district. Shri Lal said that drug addiction has become a serious problem for the society. “The state government is making continuous efforts to prevent drug abuse. There should be no laxity in this work. All concerned officers should take their duties seriously in this regard,” he has said.
