The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) on Thursday agreed that due to a haircut against its directions three years ago, the woman “lost her expected function and suffered a major loss which completely changed her lifestyle and broke her dream of becoming a top model”. The woman complained in the consumer court that she had to appear for an interview a week before, on April 12, 2018, she had gone to the salon of a hotel where she used to stay regularly. Her usual hairdresser was not available, so another person took her, she said.

She had objections about this barber, but was cut after the salon’s assurances that “she has made improvements”.

The court order said the woman specifically asked for “long flicks or layers covering her face at the front and back and trimming straight hair 4 inches from the bottom”.

But the barber reportedly chopped off her long hair, leaving her in shock, leaving only four inches from the top and barely touching her shoulders.

When a simple haircut took more than an hour, the stylist reportedly told the woman she was giving him a “London haircut.”

The woman said that when no action was taken against the barber, she went to the hotel management but was “in vain”.

Later, she also went to the salon for a hair treatment and realized that her scalp was burnt with ammonia and her hair became dry.

The hotel said the woman had a “free” haircut because her card was declined, so she didn’t qualify as a consumer. It also said that the compensation sought by him was exaggerated and without any basis. The hotel also accused the woman of trying to damage her reputation and goodwill.
