House of the Dragon Episode 9 – now on HBO Max and Disney+ Hotstar – is not the traditional final episode game of Thrones We got used to it. No major set-pieces here (with that dragon being a sign of things to come at the end). And this new episode doesn’t wrap up any longer-running storylines (which, on Game of Thrones, opened the finale to set the table for next season). In fact, this is an extremely contained episode. Set during the two days immediately after the death of King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine), House of the Dragon episode 9 sees the queen and her fathers – Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Otto (Rice Ifan) – bicker over whether How will the succession work? They share a common goal, but their perspectives differ wildly.
After being completely misunderstood about her husband, Alicent confides in her father that Viserys “desired” for Aegon to become king with his dying breath. Otto has always wanted it – which is why he was removed from his hand of king position by Viserys – and naturally, he jumps to the occasion when the small council is convened. dragon house Episode 9. But as the ball starts rolling and the Queen learns that they are secretly planning every step of Aegon’s ascension, she stops in her tracks. And she’s not alone. Ser Harold Westerling (Graham McTavish), Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, has also witnessed much. Asked to go to Dragonstone and kill the same princess he had once sworn to protect, Harold resigns from his post, seeing that he has no place in these halls until a new king is found. Are. He’s basically saying that he won’t listen to any of them. The way he deals with these bad guys is clever, handsome and top notch. Five stars, no note. Meanwhile, Ser Kristen Cole (Fabian Frankel) once again shows he has no respect in House of the Dragon Episode 9. Not only does he murder a council member who tries to resist, but he also raises his sword in front of his lord commander. Remember how a few weeks ago everyone was hooked on that? Eve.

But there’s a big consensus from a problematic man-child in House of the Dragon Episode 9. Everyone wants to be a king, he is nowhere. A quiet search begins for Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), who likes to leave his wife and sister and visit the town’s brothels every night. Otto sends the Kingsguard twins, Ser Erik (Elliot Teitenser) and Ser Erik Cargill (Luke Teitensor). Alicent sends Kristen with her one-eyed son Amond (Evan Mitchell). All of this allows the conversation to run. The twins note how Aegon has given birth to many bastards, many of whom are used in pit fighting. Meanwhile, Amond reveals his interest in being the king of Kristen, noting that he rides the biggest dragon and gets more practice with his sword. As if that ever mattered, LOL.
Inside the Red Keep, it’s politics as usual dragon house Episode 9. Otto gathers the lords and asks them to pledge allegiance to “King Aegon”. It doesn’t look like they are being given too many options, to be honest. It is to bend the knee or lose their neck.
Rani goes to meet the queen who was never there, who is locked in her own room. Alicent Raines makes a plea to Targaryen (Eve Best) and her dragon to be on her side, but she is not easily swayed. On House of the Dragon episode 9, Rainis says, “You wish not to be free, but to make a window into your prison wall—a line that is gorgeous in its brevity. Now, have served your sons. Have you ever imagined yourself on the Iron Throne, asks the Queen Alicente. As hard as it may sound, the Queen is more practical than any of them. Seeking survival, and not just for her own ambitions. Much of the thing that ruins House Valerian, thanks to the Sea Snake – the husband of Rennes – relentless pursuit of the throne.
Outside, at Fleece Bottom, a stranger tells the Kingsguard twins that she knows someone who can lead them to Aegon, but she will only meet Otto. Turns out, Massaria (Sonoya Mizuno)—the woman who was once Damon’s confidante and girlfriend, and a character who was ignored throughout the season—has a role here. After Damon falls out of favor, she uses Aegon as a bargaining chip to gain a sense of power in House of the Dragon Episode 9.

But when Aegon is finally found by the Kargils in House of the Dragon Episode 9, Kristen and Amond show up and snatch him up. Aegon just wants to be left alone by everyone. He also tells Amond that he is ready to move away from Westeros for good, allowing his brother to become king. Kristen isn’t giving any of this a chance; After all, he has made a promise to the queen.
Being in control of Alicent, she visits her father. They reiterate something they have said earlier. Otto notes that it is necessary to kill Rainera, Damon, and their children for the stability of the Realm. Otherwise many people may have died in the war. It’s cruel, but he may have a point. He thinks that his daughter is getting annoyed because Rainera was his friend, but Alicent says that his reluctance to murder is not a weakness. The Queen believes that she can oversee a bloodless infection if they give Rainera “good terms”, but House of the Dragon episode 9 is the second incident of naivety on her part. (The first was her shock about how everyone was planning on Aegon. Succession. Doesn’t she know how patriarchy works?)
It’s a sign of the darkness she’s been wearing all episodes. Alicent wants her son to become king, as her husband wanted her on his deathbed. For 20 years, Viserys maintained that Rainera was his chosen heir. Does Alicent really believe that her husband changed his mind less than an hour after dinner, where he settled the matter? Why is she putting so much stock in the words of an old sick man whose body was full of strong medicine? Her intentions are evident from the fact that she wants to take over Aegon’s crown as quickly as possible without bringing Rainera into the loop. While the Queen may not wish for bloodshed, she inevitably calls for it by pulling off a usurper’s trick in House of the Dragon Episode 9.
