People today are using the webcams on their laptops to organize meetings, collaborate and work together in real-time on projects. But, the biggest problem has always been the poor quality of webcams including MacBook laptops.

Apple also showcased a mounting clip in the keynote that would allow users to mount their iPhone on a Mac and use it as a webcam. Beyond that, the keynote also showcased the phone’s ability to somehow project Desk View without moving the camera. We wonder how it will work. Our best guess is to use a wide-angle lens. We’ll be testing it once the operating system comes out later this year.
Third-party apps exist that allow users to use their phones (most Androids) as a webcam. But, getting it to work is a cumbersome process.
When using the iPhone as a webcam, users will be able to access iPhone camera functions such as centerstage, studio lights, and a newly added feature that brightens up faces and darkens backgrounds.
Users will be able to use the iPhone as a webcam along with other apps like FaceTime and Zoom.
Continuity Camera is another feature that Apple has introduced across the platform. The feature is part of Apple’s entire Continuity suite and allows users to seamlessly jump between devices during a FaceTime call. This means that users can transfer their FaceTime calls from their iPhone to Mac without hanging up the call.
