The tech giant has said that it is going to implement its own Titan Security Key-like security key functionality in mobile devices, where these devices will use Bluetooth To verify that they are adjacent to the device the user wants to log in to.
“Like physical security keys, this helps prevent a distant attacker from tricking you into approving sign-ins on your browser, giving us an extra layer of protection against ‘person in the middle’ attacks.” Which may still work against SMS or Google Prompt,” Google engineer Daniel Margolis said in a blog post. He added that the company will introduce this technology in more places over the next two months.
The tech giant will also detail the types of Google Prompt challenges that users can face in case of unsuccessful and/or suspicious login attempts. So, there is going to be a new Google Prompt challenge that will require users to connect their mobile devices to the same Wi-Fi network as the device they are trying to log into. Google also plans to enhance phishing protection for its Google Suite of applications such as: docsSheet and slide.
