How Railways is dealing with heavy rush this festive season

Indian Railways is running 668 trips of 110 special trains from Durga Puja to Chhath Puja this year, the Railway Ministry informed on Tuesday. Special trains have been planned on railway zones to connect major destinations across the country.

“This festive season, Indian Railways is sharing the joy of celebration with the passengers by ensuring special arrangements for the passengers traveling to their native places to celebrate the festival with their families,” the ministry said.

Railways said that coaches are being increased in regular trains to ensure availability of berths during this festive rush. Crowd control measures are being ensured by creating queues at Terminus stations under the supervision of RPF staff for orderly entry of passengers in unreserved coaches.

Additional RPF personnel have been deployed at major stations to ensure the safety of passengers. Officers on emergency duty have been deployed at major stations to ensure smooth running of trains. Staff are deployed in different sections on priority basis to avoid any disruption of train service.

Measures have been taken for frequent and timely announcement of arrival/departure of trains having platform number.

“May I Help You” booths are kept operational at important stations where RPF personnel and TTEs are deputed for proper assistance and guidance of passengers. Medical teams are available on call at major stations. Ambulance with paramedical team is also available.

Any malpractice – such as folding of seats, overcharging and touting activity by the staff of Security and Vigilance Department is closely monitored and monitored. Instructions have been given by the Zonal Headquarters to maintain cleanliness at the waiting rooms, rest rooms, especially the passenger comfort areas and stations in general.
