on that WebsiteSBI instructs its customers to never disclose any personal information via text message, including account numbers, passwords or any combination of sensitive information that can be used fraudulently.
Banks have told customers that if they receive a text message that they urgently need to update their information, activate an account, or verify their identity by calling a phone number or submitting information on a website. If so, they should be careful. These messages may be part of a phishing scam carried out by fraudsters to gain access to your confidential account information and commit fraud.
SBI has mentioned that they never send email/SMS or make phone calls to obtain customer identification.
According to SBI, SMS messages are received by the victims giving retorts. Known as “smishing”, these text messages may ask the recipient to register for an online service – then try to get the virus to penetrate the user’s device. Some messages warn that the consumer will be charged unless he/she updates his/her personal or financial credentials on a web site that removes such information and other personal data.
