The all-rounder scored an unbeaten 77 off just 50 balls, and was involved in a match-winning partnership with David Warner, who smashed a 38-ball 53 as Australia beat New Zealand by 8 wickets in the final.

Chasing a target of 173 runs, Australia won the match with seven balls to spare. Trent Boult gave a good start to New Zealand after the dismissal of Aaron Finch. However, Marsh and Warner added 92 runs for the second wicket as the Aussies crossed the boundary with ease.

Earlier, New Zealand had managed to reach a total of 172/4 thanks to captain Kane Williamson’s 85 off 48 balls.

Josh Hazlewood was the bowlers’ choice for the Aussies as he took 3 for 16 from his quota of four overs. Adam Zampa also contributed with the ball, taking 1 for 26 in his four-over spell.

Warner was named ‘Player of the Tournament’ after Babar Azam finished as the second highest run-scorer in the showpiece event. He scored 289 runs in 7 matches at an average of 48.16.

Warner had a disappointing IPL campaign with Sunrisers Hyderabad after being dropped in the first half of the tournament.
