Howrah: ‘Heavy’ cash recovered from car carrying 3 Jharkhand Congress MLAs. Kolkata News – Times of India

HOWRAH: Three Congress MLAs from Jharkhand are being questioned after police in Kolkata’s twin city Howrah acted on a tip-off and stopped their car on Saturday evening, when they were traveling from Bengal, and handed them cash. Got a big pile of Howrah (Rural) SP Swati Bhangalia said that the haul was so big that the police asked a counting machine from a bank to know the amount.

The vehicle was stopped at Panchala-Ranihati intersection on the basis of information that the vehicle was loaded with cash, but the police initially did not know anything about the passengers.

The police later found out that the passengers are Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachhapi And Naman Vixel Kongarik Three Congress MLAs from the neighboring state going from Jamtara in Jharkhand to East Midnapore in Bengal.

The MLAs were taken to the police station for questioning. “They have been asked to disclose the source of the money. A cash counting machine has been sought from a nearby bank branch,” a police officer said. Sources said that none of the MLAs have disclosed the source of the money kept with them.
