HT School’s ClassAct 2022 Prelims sees record breaking participation

HT School conducted the preliminary round of The Hindustan Times Republic Day Quiz ClassAct 2022 on Sunday. In this quiz 50,611 students from grades 1 to 12 from all over the world registered for HT School. A total of 32,644 students appeared in the preliminary examination conducted on the quiz platform. Quiz, a popular teacher-led learning and engagement platform, was the technology partner for the event. Preliminary, real-time decisions were made by a reputed audit firm and several records organizations.

Avinash Mudaliar, one of the quizmasters of ClassAct 2022 said, “Personally, I am happy with the global turnout for the quiz. ClassAct Prelims saw more than 30 thousand students playing it live at a time and it was a delight At HT School, our vision is to create a platform to generate knowledge, which is fun and engaging for children… and this is just one step in that direction. There will be many more such events in this direction. The quiz is not over yet. I am looking forward to see these young minds showcasing their skills in the Republic Day finale.”

Prelims was a standalone event and included a plethora of subjects like History, Science, Geography, Arts & Entertainment, Literature and Language & Culture. It consisted of a mix of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and type-in ​​questions and was hosted completely online. The questions were time bound, and each contestant had to answer 50 questions. Was open for the initial 90 minutes.

The prelims started at 11 am in which the students used the link from the HT school website. For those who could not make it to the prelims, here is a glimpse of the easiest, toughest and funniest questions, ‘Which two colors would you mix to get the orange colour?’ “Which country’s flag has its largest export and shares its name with a trick in soccer, in which a player swings the ball between the opponent’s legs.”

The Preliminary Examination of Class ACT 2022 saw an almost equal distribution of students in both the junior category (Classes 1 to 5) and the senior category (Classes 6 to 12), with 16,821 contestants in the former and 15,821 contestants in the latter.

The scoring is fully automated on the Quizizz platform, and students are ranked on the basis of accuracy and speed. Finalists will be selected on the basis of their ranking in Prelims. The names of the students who have qualified for the finale will be posted on the HT School website on January 25. Though initially it was decided to have 100 finalists, seeing the overwhelming response, the number has been increased to 150 finalists.

ClassAct 2022 will culminate in the Grand Finale on 26th January Republic Day at 3 PM. Renowned quizmasters, Dr. Naveen Jayakumar and Avinash Mudaliar, will host the show and the quiz will be telecast live on HT School. ClassAct 2022 event page,
