Husband slaps Punjab AAP MLA on CCTV; Step into the Women’s Panel

A video of an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA in Punjab slapping her husband in public has sparked anger and calls for action.

The video shows Punjab MLA Baljinder Kaur purportedly being slapped by her husband, who is also an AAP leader, at their house.

The two are seen arguing in the presence of a few others when husband Sukhraj Singh suddenly slaps Kaur in anger. Others present on the spot dragged him.

The incident was caught on a CCTV camera installed near the couple’s house in Talwandi Sabo.

This 50-second video is from July 10 but has now surfaced. The AAP, which rules Punjab, has not commented on the clip.

Baljinder Kaur has been a two-time MLA from Talwandi Sabo. She hasn’t filed a complaint, but the Punjab State Commission for Women has stepped in.

Commission chairperson Manisha Gulati told reporters: “I have seen Baljinder Kaur’s video on social media. We will take suo motu cognizance of the incident. It is disturbing that a woman raising public issues is facing harassment at home. have to do.”

Ms. Kaur married Sukhraj Singh, the convener of AAP’s youth wing for Majha region in 2019. She is a member of AAP’s national executive and heads the party’s women’s wing in Punjab.

Before joining politics, he worked as a professor of English at Mata Gujri College in Fatehgarh Sahib. She joined AAP and won her first election in Punjab in 2017.

The video has provoked hatred and condemnation.

Former Union Minister of Akali Dal Harsimrat Kaur Badal has demanded action against the MLA’s husband.

“Totally condemn the despicable violence perpetrated by the husband of T Sabo MLA Baljinder Kaur. We must weed out such vulnerabilities who feel superior by using violence on women. Public apology to Baljinder’s husband Should and rectify his method or take strict action as per law. Against him,” he tweeted.
