As soon as they came to know that a complaint had been lodged with the police on May 31, they left their homes in the city. While C.C.L. Banjara Hills went to Tamil Nadu with his family member, another minor from Sangareddy went to Goa with a family member. Third CCL went to Andhra Pradesh using public transport. The remaining criminals took shelter in a farm house in Moinabad.

Special police teams comprising the task force and law and order police found it difficult to trace the fugitives as they had switched off their phones. “They stopped using old SIM cards and cell phones. Started communicating with my advisors through VoIP calls,” a police officer, who was part of the tracking team, said.
The police kept a watch on the rest of the family members of the absconding accused and managed to trace them from their whereabouts. A minor was picked up from the place of worship in Nellore, where he took shelter. The minor, who was traveling in a four wheeler with a family member, was tracked near Salem in Tamil Nadu and with mounting pressure on the family, the minor along with his family member came before the police in Goa. The Moinabad accused were also picked up and the MLA’s son, who was at home, surrendered to the police after the other accused were caught.
