I always say it can be better, so I did so much work in Hindustan mein ki (I did so much work in India) that I was thinking how to make it difficult for myself because I think so much merit Big is the enemy of luster. Like when you are able then you think yes what is this give interview, mera dialogue batte aap bolta ho main.

“Because when you’re doing so much work, because it wasn’t like some earth-shaking movie was being made, you wanted to be a part of whatever was being made,” he decided to work on any project. About to do added, who came to them. Way.

When he was asked whether typecasting started when he was doing international projects? He replied, “No, as I was the first person to break the myth of typecasting, because I was also doing ‘Karma’, I was also doing ‘Ram Lakhan’, I was also doing ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla’ , ‘Wednesday’ as well. But I was always very ambitious and wanted some international exposure. Gurinder Chadha was making ‘Bend Like Beckham’ and one day I got a mail from him that I was making this film. I think he asked Mr. Bachchan or she wanted to keep Mr. Bachchan in her mind for ‘Bend it like Beckham’ for the father’s role. As in your ambition as the film became a cult film”

Describing his journey to bag his first international film ‘Bend It Like Beckham’, Kher said, “I inquired because Deepak Nair was the producer of the film, so he (Gurinder Chadha) told me that when I am in America I should have met him in London. Then we met and he asked me will you do this film? So I agreed.

“After reading the script I was like yaar meri toh line nahi zada (My lines are not much), which was the mindset of a Hindi film actor that lines are short. Then I had a conversation with Gurinder and he said don’t worry when the film is ready they (audience) will be happy with it. Since I belonged to a Hindi medium school, I think in Hindi, so when I started speaking in English it was really difficult for me because I had to first translate it from Hindi to English and then translate it in a way Bolna tha ki main toh second language English hai. (that my second language is English). But then that’s what happened later in ‘Silver Linings Playbook,’ and a lot of movies happen that way. But only because I went out of my comfort zone, ”concluded Kher.

Kher shared his experience of working in the TV show ‘ER’ even though he did not have a central role. Anupam said, ‘My acting teacher used to say that if you are good then you will be noticed and it happened.’

Anupam Kher’s international film ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ was nominated for the Golden Globe Awards which brought him a lot of attention from the global audience. (ANI)
