A major change has been observed in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings: Virat Kohli Despite impressing in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia, he has dropped out of the top 10 T20I batsmen’s rankings. The standings are still led by Suryakumar Yadav of India who has continued his impressive run in the tournament. The bowler’s ranking also saw a major change as Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga is the new No. 1 bowler after an impressive performance for his side in the T20 World Cup.
No place for Virat in top-10
In a big surprise, Virat Kohli, who has been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award for October, has moved out of the top 10 in the ICC Men’s T20I Batsmen’s Rankings. Virat is the highest run-scorer in the T20 World Cup and has scored 246 runs for the national team. However, Virat’s poor performance against Bangladesh has put him out of the top 10.
Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliance means he remains in the top spot with an extended advantage in that position and a career-high rating of 869 points. Suryakumar Yadav has scored 225 runs in five innings in the T20 World Cup and is already enjoying his life with three fifties in the tournament.
Yadav’s aggressive innings against Zimbabwe saw Mohammad Rizwan, Devon Conway and Babar Azmi Rounding out the top four.
Further down in the batsmen rankings are New Zealand’s Finn Allen and India’s KL Rahul Those who are making moves are moving up six and five places respectively and are close to entering the top 10.
Hasranga No 1 T20I bowler
Hasaranga took 15 wickets during Sri Lanka’s World Cup campaign, more than any other player till the end of the Super 12 phase and last achieved the number one ranking in November 2021.
He finished the tournament with impressive returns of 3/13 against Afghanistan and 2/23 against England, further adding to his reputation as one of the best leg-spinners in world cricket.
