While West Indies lost to England and South Africa, Bangladesh were defeated by Eoin Morgan & Co after losing to Sri Lanka.

Their campaign will face a do-or-die battle after a series of defeats between defending champions West Indies and Bangladesh in the crucial Group 1 Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup in Sharjah on Friday. .

While West Indies lost to England and South Africa, Bangladesh were defeated by Eoin Morgan & Co after losing to Sri Lanka.

Both the teams need a win to keep the semi-final hopes alive.

West Indies desperately need to address their batting woes. At the start of his campaign against England, he was dismissed for 55 and all his batsmen were guilty of rotating the strike and throwing their wickets for big shots instead of building the innings.

In the second game, the two-time champion changed his no-holds barred approach slightly, sending Lendl Simmons to open the innings. But the opener was playing at a slow pace and scored 16 runs in 35 balls.

Simmons’ innings resulted in other batsmen including Evin Lewis taking risks and losing their wickets in return.

West Indies kept the target below target for the loss of eight wickets for 64 runs between the 11th and 20th overs.

Going forward, Simmons could be replaced by Roston Chase, who opened the innings with an unbeaten 54 in the warm-up match against Afghanistan.

A useful bowler can also give the Barbadian team another spin bowling option.

West Indies bowlers are also looking normal and do not have enough runs to defend. Only left-arm spinner Akil Hossein has been impressive.

Additionally, the conditions in the United Arab Emirates are not conducive to the “big hitting” style of play of the West Indies.

They are yet to win seven matches, including two pre-tournament warm-up matches.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, are familiar with the sluggish subcontinent’s tracks and yet they have failed to capitalize on it.

There was a lot of expectation from Bangladesh, coming into the tournament as the sixth-ranked team, having beaten the likes of New Zealand and Australia. But the Mahmudullah-led side has been inconsistent throughout the tournament.

He has won only two of his five matches so far.

Bangladesh have some talented batsmen in the form of Mohammad Naeem, Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim but they have failed to fire together.

Their bowlers also lack discipline and will have to perform much better, as West Indies, though struggling at the moment, have a formidable batting line-up with match winners.

Despite a number of issues, Bangladesh could get a slight edge in the game as the one-day match has already been played here on Sunday.
