Ideas are pouring in for ₹25 Lakh+ prizes from students

Vivo, the innovative global smartphone brand, has launched Vivo Ignite, Science and Innovation Awards in association with Hindustan Times as its knowledge partner. It is a three phase program which started in September 2022 and will continue till February 2023. The initiative is open for registration till December 12 for students of classes 8 to 12 across the country. Click here to register. On successful registration, a digital participation certificate will be given to all the students who have presented their ideas. At the end of the program, the top 10 (5 concept and 5 prototype) winners will also receive prizes of over Rs 25 lakh.

As part of the Idea Submission stage, students have already begun to submit their unique project ideas through posters and summaries in either of these two categories: Concept (a project that expands on their scientific idea) article) and prototype (a fully developed working model) an acronym). Here are some innovative ideas from some of the brightest minds in India that promise to benefit society at large.

Eco-friendly alternative to wood fiber

Prototype: Srivastava Suryavansh

An alternative to wood fiber can be prepared through this project. This, in turn, will reduce the rate of deforestation, while encouraging reuse and recycling, making the environment cleaner and greener.

A ‘robotic’ way to reduce the risk of life

Prototype: Ayush Kumar

Humans often have to engage in dangerous activities that can lead to loss of life. The aim of this project is to build a robot that can perform such life-threatening tasks on behalf of humans.

Solar Heating: A Green Option

Prototype: Vinisha Umashankar

Charcoal is used to heat iron which harms human beings and also affects the environment. The project aims to reduce the use of charcoal for heating iron.

Gray water is water used for domestic purposes. This relatively clean used water is usually wasted when it is flushed down the drain. This project will ensure that excess gray water is collected, filtered and reused.

Over the years, India has experienced several gas leak tragedies, which have claimed thousands of lives and given rise to long-lasting health conditions. The aim of this project is to reduce such tragedies.
