Inspector General of Police (Prayagraj Range) on Tuesday KP Singh Wore a teacher’s hat for the underprivileged children of the slum and taught geography and political science to the seventh and eighth grade students. Interestingly, more than 50 children participated in the class for about an hour.
The IG told TOI that he would teach other subjects to underprivileged children every Tuesday evening. The initiative was taken by a cop named Ashish Mishra, who is a constable in the Prayagraj range office, and started teaching underprivileged children a few weeks back. Gradually, other policemen of different ranks and ranks also joined them and decided to teach different subjects to the children.
Two years ago, these classes were started and run by Abhishek Shukla under the Suruvat Sangathan, who had earlier started taking classes for underprivileged children at Tiranga Park, Parade Ground. When he came in contact with the police officers, senior police officers also expressed their desire and constable Ashish Mishra took the class first.
Mishra, who also did B.Ed, decided to take classes physically as students were not able to afford smartphones or laptops to attend online classes. Most of the students are children of laborers living in the vicinity. Police further informed that the classes are being conducted following all the COVID-19 guidelines and social distancing norms.
However, the IG appreciated the efforts of the policemen doing such work and said that there are other policemen in the list who extended their helping hand to these children and deserve appreciation for their contribution towards the society.
