IIT Hyderabad launches BTech in Computational, Biotech and Industrial Engineering

NS Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad It has started three B.Tech programs in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Computational Engineering and Industrial Chemistry from the academic session 2021. After the four-year programmes, students will be prepared to work in a variety of industries such as pharma and pharmaceutical design, polymer industry, petrochemical industry. , environment, and energy, etc.

The BTech in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics curriculum is designed to equip you with in-demand bioinformatics skills including artificial intelligence and soft computing, web technologies, structural biology, biological data mining, image processing, modeling and simulation, systems biology, and biostatistics. Designed to train students with. Make sure students are job-ready, says IITH professor Anindya Roy.

BTech students in Computational Engineering will receive an interdisciplinary education where they will specialize in numerical methods and algorithms, modeling and simulation of engineering systems and processes, high performance computing, process control, and optimization, data analysis, as well as machine learning. Professor Raja Banerjee, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

In addition to the B.Tech course, students must also take an elective course from another department and may also obtain minors in their areas of interest outside the B.Tech subject such as entrepreneurship, computer science, etc., by completing 12 additional credits. in that area.

The BTech course provides an opportunity to the students to take courses from all the branches of science, i.e. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the first two semesters. In the sixth semester, students can opt for semester-long projects that will provide an opportunity to work and gain experience in biotech, pharma, manufacturing, information technology, data analysis, chemistry informatics and help in the gradual transition to full-time jobs. Will do .

Prof BS Murthy, Director, IIT Hyderabad, enthusiastic and eager to explore young minds, said, “IIT Hyderabad believes in career-oriented programs at both UG and PG level. These industry-oriented BTechs are one such step in this direction and are designed keeping in mind the future and present needs of the industry. Students who are interested in pursuing further studies or research after BTech will have a plethora of options from national and international universities to choose from.
