Indian Institute of Technology Madras has started two diploma programs in Programming and Data Science.
Structured to enable learners to build fundamentals and hone their skills through practical training, it is open to all those who have completed at least two years of their undergraduate education in any discipline .
Candidates can apply through the portal till 15 November https://diploma.iitm.ac.in For the qualifier exam to be held on 12th December. Candidates will have to appear in person at the examination center in the city of the applicant’s choice.
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) chairman Anil D Sahasrabuddhe, who launched the portal for diplomas on Monday, said the course will reach out to a diverse group of learners aspiring to pursue a career in programming and data science. To complete the diploma, a candidate must complete eight courses, which will be delivered online. The course can be completed in eight months.
Candidates can pay the fee only for the number of courses registered in a period. The institute is also offering course fee waiver up to 75% depending on the socio-economic background of the applicants. There will be live sessions with course instructors apart from in-person quizzes and end-term exams to assess the learners.
Director of the institute Bhaskar Ramamurthy said that the facility of online learning along with individual assessment has made the program flexible while maintaining academic rigor.
