IIT Madras offers 2-week online course in advanced quantum computing

Indian Institute technology Madras (IIT Madras) Innovative Technologies Foundation is conducting a two-week course on ‘Advanced Quantum Computing’ with practical training on IBM QISKIT. This first-of-its-kind course provides participants with programming experience in an IBM quantum computer and will help them explore the possibility of using quantum computers for high-performance tasks in multiple domains, claims the university.

Course offered in association with Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) India and Mphasis Center for Quantum Information, Communications and Computing (MCQuICC) will be organized at IIT Madras Campus from 5 to 16 December 2022.

The course is open to participants from industries and government organizations. The last date to register is 2 December 2022. Interested persons can register on the following link – https://wsaqc.pravartak.org.in/

The Advanced Quantum Computing course will focus on introducing specialized topics to participants who are familiar with the fundamentals of quantum computing. It will also introduce the QISKIT runtime which will soon be the default method for programming in IBM QISKIT.

Highlighting the unique aspects of this programme, Director, IIT Madras, Prof. V. Kamakoti said, “The Winter School on Advanced Quantum Computing was jointly organized by IITM Innovative Technologies Foundation, Association for Computing Machinery India, Mphasis Center for Quantum Information. Communications and Computing and IBM, a first-of-its-kind course that provides participants with hands-on programming experience in IBM quantum computers. This advanced course will help participants explore and expand the possibility of using quantum computers for high-performance tasks in multiple domains.

Talking about the program, Dr. Anil Prabhakar, Head, MCQuICC, said, “The Mphasis Center for Quantum Information, Communication and Computing (MCQuICC) is focused on making quantum technologies a reality for industry. As part of our training and outreach activity, we organize events on quantum computing. We are partnering with IITM Enabler Technologies Foundation and Association for Computing Machinery India to offer a Winter School on Advanced Quantum Computing.

Furthermore, Dr. Prabhakar said, “This school is a sequel to the ACM School on Quantum Computing, which was to be held in January 2022. The program aims to provide participants with advanced knowledge and skills in quantum machine learning, quantum finance, and the use of advanced IBM QISKIT modules.” To train for. Quantum simulations.
