IIT Madras received 176 offers on the first day, an increase of 43 percent from last year

NS Indian Institute Technology (IIT) Madras Phase 1 campus placements for the 2021-22 academic year began on Wednesday by setting a new record. A total of 176 offers have been made by 34 companies during the first day’s session on December 1. This is higher than the previous academic years, claimed the press release by IIT-Madras. During the preceding academic year 2020-21, 123 proposals were made by 22 companies at the end of session 1.1.

This year the entire placement process is being conducted online. For this year, top employers include Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Bajaj Auto, Bain & Company, Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, Boston Consulting Group, JPMorgan Chase & Company and McKinsey.

A total of 11 international offers were received from the four companies by the end of session 1.1. In addition, during the current 2021-22 academic year, IIT Madras students received 231 PPOs. Thus a total of 407 job offers have been received till the end of the 1.1 session. The first phase of placements is expected to continue till December 10.

A total of 1,498 students have registered for placements in various fields of study in the academic year 2021-22. The total number of companies registered for Phase I placements is 382. They will recruit for a total of 738 profiles.
