IITs witness best placement season ever, up to 45% jump in job offers

The first phase of placements at 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) ended last week, and data shows that it has been an overwhelming season. Compared to last year, most IITs have registered 40-45 per cent growth in jobs offered to students this year, making it the best hiring season ever, a daily news daily reported.

Most IITs saw an all-time high in the number of offers and average pay scales. According to hiring experts, the COVID-19 pandemic pushed many sectors towards digitization, and this led to the recruitment of a record number of new talent.

IIT Bombay: first stage of placement IIT Bombay As of the end of December 18, according to a Moneycontrol report, 1,382 students secured jobs including 45 international offers. The number of offers received by students this year was 1,723. A total of 973 job offers were made in 2020 and 1,172 job offers were received in 2019. In the first 18 days of placements, 12 students received offers with annual salary of more than Rs 1 crore. The average salary offered in IIT-B has increased by 26 percent in comparison to 2020 and 19 percent in comparison to 2019.

IIT Delhi: IITD This year 1,250 job offers were received which is the highest ever. About 80 per cent of the students who have registered for the placement drive have been recruited. The institute received 1,250 proposals – the highest ever, and an increase of 45 per cent over the previous year. The average salary on job offers increased by 20 percent.

IIT Roorkee: This year, IIT Roorkee students have received the highest ever job offers of 1,243 which includes 32 international job offers. Three students received packages ranging from Rs 1.3 crore to Rs 1.8 crore from Indian companies. The highest package this year is Rs 2.15 crore.

IIT Madras: Of the 1,498 students who registered for placements, 73 percent have received job offers. Total number of offers made to students is 1,316. It also saw a 100 per cent jump in the number of offers from startups coming during the first phase of placements as compared to 2019. This year 63 startups have made more than 190 job offers.

IIT Kharagpur: Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur tops the list here. With over 1,600 job offers- IIT-Kharagpur registers best placement season Among all the IITs, one student got the highest offer of Rs 2.4 crore while 22 other students got offers in the CTC range of Rs 0.9-2.4 crore. More than 1500 students have accepted the offers made in the first phase of placements at IIT Kharagpur that concluded on 11th December.

IIT Hyderabad: The institute received 466 proposals including 34 international offers in the first phase of campus placements. The highest package received this year is Rs 65 lakh, And the average package is Rs 23 lakh. A total of 427 students have already been placed out of 650 students registered.
