Karnal: A joint team of district town planner and town planning department of Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Friday demolished two illegal shops and a service station in Ram Nagar area of ​​Karnal city.
District Town Planner (DTP) RS Bath said that the properties were constructed illegally on 150 square yards by a drug peddler named Gulzar.
During the demolition operation, Mohan Lal, in-charge of the Crime Investigation Agency-II, accidentally got hurt and was taken to the hospital, where his condition is stable.
According to police records, 23 NDPS cases were registered against Gulzar, and he was in jail.
Karnal Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ajay Singh Tomar said, “We were receiving complaints regarding illegal construction. We had given notices to the owners of the properties. Action was taken after the notice was not followed.”
Heavy police force was deployed to maintain law and order situation.
It is noteworthy that five shops located in Gulzar’s Saidpura were also demolished by the joint team last month.
