IMD alert for heavy rain today; Rainy season will continue in these states

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain in Andaman and Nicobar today. Apart from this, rain is likely to continue over some states including Tamil Nadu, Kerala for the next few days under the influence of a fresh Western Disturbance and its induced circulation, the weather agency said in its forecast on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the temperature is likely to rise in most parts of the country in the next few days. View the full forecast here.

Rain Alert:

  • There is a possibility of heavy rain in Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next 24 hours.
  • During 15-17 February 2022, Andaman and Nicobar Islands are very likely to experience thunder and lightning during the next 5 days.
  • Isolated rainfall is very likely over South Tamil Nadu and South Kerala and Lakshadweep Islands during the next 2 days.
  • Isolated light rain/snowfall is likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on 15th and 16th February and Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on 15th February 2022.
  • Scattered light rain/snowfall is very likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh from 17th to 20th February 2022.

Temperature Forecast:

  • No significant change in minimum temperatures very likely over most parts of Northwest India during next 5 days.
  • The minimum temperature is very likely to increase by 2-3 degree Celsius over most parts of Central India during next 2 days and there will be no significant change thereafter.
  • The minimum temperature is very likely to increase by 3-5 degree Celsius over most parts of East India during next 3 days and there will be no significant change thereafter.
