The India Meteorological Department on Friday alerted that the pressure over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression.
It tweeted, “Pressure over northwest & adjoining north-east Bay of Bengal intensified into a deep depression & centered at 1130 hrs today around 200 km East-Southeast of Balasore & 130 km East-southeast of Digha . To cross the coast of Balasore and Sagar Islands by this evening.
He further cautioned that heavy to very heavy rains are likely in many states in the next few days.
