IMD rubbishes ‘rumours’ about super cyclone off the coast of Bay of Bengal

The Indian Meteorological Department on Saturday dismissed reports of a super cyclone hitting the Bay of Bengal coast around October 18 as “rumours” and said it has not issued any advisory in this regard.

IMD Director General Dr M Mohapatra confirmed that the Meteorological Department has not issued any such Advisor Also asked people not to believe in such rumours.

IMD’s regional center at Bhubaneswar tweeted, “The India Meteorological Department has not made any forecast on the cyclone or has given any indication in this regard. Please stay away from rumours.”

“We are working round the clock to provide accurate weather information. So please stay away from rumours,” the statement said.
