Imran Khan’s supporters protest across Pakistan against his expulsion

Members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) took out rallies in several cities of Pakistan on 10 April. Former Prime Minister and Party President Imran Khan Through a motion of no confidence moved by the opposition.

Protest rallies were organized in cities like Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, Malakand, Multan Khanewal, Khyber, Jhang and Quetta, in which protesters raised slogans against the opposition.

Earlier in the day, ousted Prime Minister Khan tweeted that today marked the beginning of a “freedom struggle” in Pakistan against “a foreign conspiracy to change regime”.

In an effort to inspire his supporters, he said, “there are always people who defend their sovereignty and democracy”.

Despite the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s hectic efforts to avoid voting on a no-confidence motion against Mr. Khan, the United Opposition succeeded in its month-long efforts to oust Mr. Khan as 174 from the Prime Minister’s Office. Mr Khan, 69, became the first Prime Minister in the country’s history to be deported after losing the confidence of the House.

PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry, while speaking to the media in Islamabad earlier in the day, had called upon people to protest after the Isha prayers.

He said that Mr Khan not leading a larger movement would be a “betrayal of the country’s politics and the Constitution”.
