In CCTV, Andhra leader attacks man with sickle on the pretext of begging

The accused is seen running away after injuring the minister.

Hyderabad:

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Polnati Seshagiri Rao was injured after he was attacked with a sickle at his home in Tuli, Andhra Pradesh.

The assailant in the guise of a monk had come to Rao’s house this morning on the pretext of seeking alms or alms.

The CCTV footage shows the TDP leader being offered some food grains at the entrance of his house when the man takes out his sickle and attacks Mr Rao.

The accused is seen running away after injuring the minister. Just then a woman comes out of the house and runs after him making noise.

Mr Rao suffered injuries on his head and hand in the attack, officials said, adding that he has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Kakinada Superintendent of Police M Ravindranath Babu said the accused fled with his accomplice, who was waiting for him outside the house on a motorcycle.

“Four police teams have been formed to trace them,” Babu said.
