Despite the abundance of content, you probably remembered the name of a show whose telecast waits for not just one but the whole family. And, all the people in the house, young, old, children and elders, are able to sit and watch him together. This becomes evident in the decade of 1980 to 90. When people joined the house to watch some shows and having fun, silence was seen.

Ramayana

In 1987, when the telecast of Ramayana started on Doordarshan. A member of the house was seen waiting for the TV. This is one of the very popular serials of Doordarshan world. Which was basically based on Ramayana. Once again it was broadcast even during the pandemic.

Mahabharata

After Ramayana, the mind of Doordarshan viewers is Rama in Mahabharata. The show is becoming popular for its grandeur, and wide star cast as well as its presentation. The spiritual dialogues of the artists and the announcement of hymns in between also made the show special.

Sri Krishna

This serial telecasted in 1993, full of Lord Krishna’s teachings, his art of understanding life in the simplest form. The show became very popular among the devotees of Lord Krishna. The bond of affection between Krishna and the devotees made the show a household favourite.

Adoration to Lord Shiva

Like Lord Krishna, Lord Shiva also reached home. Viewers started watching the show in 1997 with the chanting of Om Namah Shivay and the devotee-God bond deepened. The show was well received for its spiritual content.

Jai Hanuman

Regular Jai Hanuman from the life and teachings of Hanumanji from Bal Hanuman to becoming Lord Hanuman. Which aired on Doordarshan in 1997. Lord Hanuman’s pastimes and devotion to Ram enthralled the audience.
