Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has offered not to contest the upcoming assembly elections in Uttarakhand. In a letter to BJP president JP Nadda, the former chief minister asked him to accede to his request not to contest the elections, so that he could devote all his time to work to ensure the party’s victory.

Trivendra Singh Rawat, who represents the Doiwala constituency in the Uttarakhand Assembly, said that he should not contest the elections due to the changed political situation in the state. “The state has changed. It has got a young leader in Pushkar Dhami. In the changed political circumstances, I feel that I should not contest the 2022 assembly elections. I had conveyed my feelings to the party earlier,” he said. .

Trivendra Singh Rawat was replaced as chief minister by Tirath Singh Rawat in March last year, just days before he completed four years in office. Dhami replaced Tirath Singh Rawat, who resigned after nearly four months in office. Trivendra Singh Rawat expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party leadership for giving him the opportunity to serve as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.

He said that he received unprecedented support from the Prime Minister during his tenure as Chief Minister. He thanked the people of Doiwala for their blessings and expressed hope that they would continue to give their blessings to the BJP in future also.
