Inaugural session of the 4th Tourism Working Group meeting under G20 held in Goa

New Delhi [India]June 20 (ANI): The inaugural session of the fourth Tourism Working Group meeting under India’s G20 chairmanship, organized by the Ministry of Tourism, was held in Goa on Monday. The meeting will continue till June 22.

The inaugural session was addressed by Union Minister for Tourism, Culture and DoNER G Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Tourism Ajay Bhatt; Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Yesso Naik and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

Addressing the inaugural session, Minister Reddy said that in the last few months, G20 Tourism Working Group meetings were held under the chairmanship of India. It included 1st meeting in Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, 2nd in Siliguri, West Bengal, 3rd in Srinagar, J&K and had some insightful, thought provoking and positive discussions on various types of tourism products with experts, innovators. , and leaders around the world.

“We are home to more than 50 Shaktipeeths, where the divinity of women is worshipped. India is the birthplace of Sikhism and we have the Sikh Golden Temple, Amritsar, which is a symbol of brotherhood and equality.

He further added, “Since time immemorial, travel to India has been an opportunity to discover oneself and India has always been a popular destination for travelers from all corners of the world in search of self-discovery. It has provided an opportunity to people from 200 countries and people of different religions to experience the cultural and spiritual heritage of India.

Reddy further pointed out that in India, in the spirit of our ancient philosophy of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ – where the guest is considered divine, our foreign tourist arrivals have picked up again post COVID 19 and the period January to April 2023 Foreign tourist arrivals during 2022 are 166 per cent higher than the arrivals registered during the same period last year.
