The party had planned a roadshow for the assembly elections to be held early next year.

Set to kick off its campaign campaign in Karnataka with its ‘Pancharatna Yatra’, the JD(S) on Tuesday decided to postpone the event soon after it was flagged off at Mulbagal.

Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that the yatra has been postponed due to heavy rains. The Meteorological Department has indicated bad weather for the next few days.

The party had planned a roadshow for the assembly elections to be held early next year.

The yatra, which included a village visit by Kumaraswamy, was flagged off by JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda on Tuesday morning.

“We decided to postpone the yatra, conference and village stay for a week as the rains increased,” Kumaraswamy said.

The yatra is now expected to resume from Mulbagal in Kolar district next week. New dates will be announced in a day or two.
