Income Tax Department has asked taxpayers to do this for faster ITR filing

for a hurry Income Tax Return or ITR Filing Further processing, the Income Tax Department has appealed to the taxpayers to file ITR by accessing the e-filing portal incometax.gov.in. The Income Tax Department informed that over 1.76 crore taxpayers have processed their ITR for the year 2021-22 from the e-filing portal.

The Income Tax Department of India tweeted about the same urging taxpayers to file ITR online through e-filing portal, “The sooner the better. File now! Over 1.76 crore taxpayers have filed their ITR for the year 2021- 22. We urge you to file your ITR by accessing the e-filing portal incometax.gov.in. Faster Filing, Faster Processing!”

How to file ITR through e-filing portal

The ITR e-filing process is quick and easy. ITR filing through the e-filing portal incometax.gov.in can also help taxpayers save money as they will not need to hire a professional to file their ITR. They need to follow the step-by-step guide given below:

1]Log on to the e-filing portal – incometax.gov.in and click on the ‘Login’ button;

2]Enter your ‘Username’, click ‘Continue’ and then enter your password;

3]Now, click on ‘e-File’ tab and then click on ‘File Income Tax Return’ option;

4]Select ‘Assessment Year 2021-22’ and then click on ‘Continue’ option;

5]Then you will be asked to select ‘Online’ or ‘Offline’ option, select the online option and click on ‘Proceed’ tab;

6]Select the ‘Individual’ option from the given options – Individual, Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) or Other;

7]Click on the ‘Continue’ tab;

8]Select either ITR-1 or ITR-4 and click on ‘Proceed’ tab;

9]In the next step you will be asked the reason for filing your return above basic exemption limit or on account of seventh provision under section 139(1). Make sure that you have selected the correct option while filing your ITR online;

10]Enter your bank details;

11]Then, you will be directed to a new page to file your ITR;

12]Now, verify your ITR and send a hard copy of your return to the Income Tax Department. Your ITR verification process is mandatory.
