IND vs AUS 4th Test: Rohit Sharma joins elite list with MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and others

During his innings of 35 in the first innings of the Fourth Test against Australia, India captain Rohit Sharma became the sixth Indian batsman to complete 17,000 runs in international cricket. Rohit was unbeaten on 17 at stumps on the second day Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabadand by scoring four more runs in the morning session of the third day’s play, he completed 17,000 runs in international cricket.

He now joins the list of Indian batsmen who have scored more than 17,000 runs in international cricket like the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, the charismatic Virat Kohli, head coach Rahul Dravid, former captain Sourav Ganguly and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Rohit made his international debut for India against Ireland in June 2007, and has since played a total of 48 Tests (currently playing in the Ahmedabad Test), 241 ODIs and 148 T20Is, scoring 3348 runs ( can bat second) innings at Ahmedabad), 9782, and 3853 runs respectively.

He is also the only cricketer in the world to score three double centuries in ODIs. Rohit could have scored more runs in the first innings in Ahmedabad as he thwarted Mitchell Starc’s short-ball move. But when he shaped a backfoot punch off left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnman, he sent the ball straight to short extra cover in the 21st over.
