IND vs SA 2022: DDCA expecting huge crowd for first T20I: Rohan Jaitley

New Delhi: With Control Board Cricket In India (BCCI) Allowing stadiums at full capacity for the India-South Africa five-match T20 series, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley is ensuring that no one goes into welcoming fans for the first match. Leave no stone unturned.

The BCCI has allowed stadiums at full capacity for the India-South Africa T20I series which begins here on June 9.

The DDCA President said that the upcoming first T20 match is very close to his heart and added that adequate measures will be taken to make the game a success.

“It is very close to my heart, there were a few games after the stadium was renamed (from Feroz Shah Kotla to Arun Jaitley) and after that, we were hit by the pandemic. We have to ensure that the right facilities and infrastructure are provided to host the games.”

“All proper guidelines are being followed, even if there are no restrictions, we will ensure that the masking is followed by the spectators. It’s better to be careful. The stadium is ready to host the match and we are excited to welcome the fans.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic brought all sporting activities to a halt in March 2020 and as Delhi gears up to host the first T20I, Rohan Jaitley feels it is an interesting phase in the city’s cricket.

“The last 30 months have been a difficult period for the cricket fraternity and society due to the pandemic. The DDCA president said, now we are seeing the spectators returning, the restrictions are being lifted.

“For the first T20I, we are expecting a huge audience. The South African team has already arrived and they are adapting to the weather. This is an interesting phase for Delhi cricket as many new scenes have opened up.

Speaking further about the domestic tournaments, Rohan Jaitley said, “The Under-16 league is going on and soon to be completed, there is an Under-19 league which started two days back. So these are the leagues that This is done to ensure that the best talent comes to the fore.”

The Indian team will play a five-match T20I series against South Africa at five different venues – New Delhi, Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot and Bengaluru. The last match will be played on June 19.
