IND vs SA: Rishabh Pant wants better performance from India’s spinners against South Africa after second T20I loss cricket news

a distraught captain Rishabh Pant Made no bones about Prerna’s performance without the two leading spinners Akshar Patel And Yuzvendra Chahali, urged them to come good after another meek surrender at the hands of South Africa in the second T20 International in Cuttack on Sunday. While Akshar could have been given only one over in which he conceded 19 runs, Chahal was equally bad as he was dismissed for 49 in four overs. Akshar has conceded 59 runs in five overs in two matches while Chahal has conceded 75 runs in six overs.

“The spinners need to do better in the game,” Pant said in a post-match presentation.

He conceded that 148 for 6 was probably 15 runs short, despite the track being two-paced.

“I think we were 10-15 runs short (while) batting,” he said.

“Heaven (Bhuvneshwar Kumar for their 4/13) and all the other fast bowlers bowled very well though. In the second half we were short and things did not go our way.

“The bowlers started really well, but after 10-11 overs, we didn’t bowl well and that’s where the game changed. We thought we were going to do similar things (as South African bowlers). In the last three games, we will try to win,” his reply lacked conviction.

man of the Match Heinrich Klasseny Glad he can play such an innings as it will “extend his career”.

“I am happy that this innings came against India. I hope it will prolong my career. I have not done well in the last few years. I am very happy and confident to be here,” Klaasen said.

“It was a difficult chase. He got the ball to talk to with the new ball, it was difficult. I was just trying to catch up and allow Klaasen to come and do what he does best. We end up I could have clinical but the outcome is what counts,” Bavuma said.

Praising the Proteas’ hero in the second game, he said, “Klaasen can do a lot of damage with a couple of balls. He adds a lot to our batting. It’s all about your role.”
