India beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets to win the three-match series 2-0 in Dharamsala. He made fun of Sri Lanka’s target of 184 as they chased down the target with 17 balls to spare. Chasing the target, the hosts had a disappointing time with Harshal Patel conceding 23 runs in his final over. Sri Lanka later managed to get Rohit Sharma out early, which was followed by some tests of Lahiru Kumara’s pace bowling, with Ishan Kishan hitting the helmet. The young man never looked like himself and was clearly baffled. Later he did not play anything and was dismissed for 16 runs.

But Shreyas Iyer (74 off 44 balls) fought the fire with fire and teamed up with Sanju Samson (39 off 25 balls) to strike a counter-innings of 84 runs that turned the table for Sri Lanka. The duo attacked the bowlers in no time with Iyer and Samson. Later Ravindra Jadeja also joined in the fun as he scored 45 runs in just 18 balls. With this win, India made a mockery of Sri Lanka’s goal, which once seemed difficult to achieve. Kumar, who looked brilliant in his first spell, looked toothless as Jadeja took him to the cleaners.

Captain Dasun Shanaka smashed 183 for five against India in the second T20 International on Saturday, aided by opener Patham Nissenka’s 53-ball 75. After arming himself after laying the groundwork for his opening partner Danushka Gunathilaka (38 off 29 balls), Nissenka cut loose and kept his runs at 140-plus. He found the fence 11 times until Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed him on the last ball of the last over. , However, Sri Lanka would not have got what they eventually managed had it not been for Shanaka’s five big sixes and two fours. India’s new ball handlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah, swing the white ball in the first few overs, beat the bat and hit the pads in the second over for a lbw after a huge outcry, losing a review. As the innings progressed with Danushka Gunathilaka, the Sri Lankan openers got their jobs done together, especially with regard to the Indian bowling attack. For Gunathilaka and Sri Lanka, the first official shot of the match came when he played Bumrah with cover in the third over.

The aggressive left-handed opener pulled Harshal Patel for his second boundary even as the Indian managed to keep things fairly calm in the middle. Pathum Nissenka welcomes Yuzvendra Chahal with a boundary, backs off to cut the leg-spinner’s loser through the cover point area, but the visitors still weren’t able to get the run rate they were looking for. However, scoring 32 for no loss after six power play overs, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 18 in the ninth over with Gunatilaka, Ravindra Jadeja, who also saw the man out in form.
