India vs ZIM: Team India is currently in Zimbabwe and is playing a three-match ODI series. KL Rahul– The young Indian team led is being considered the favorite for the series. With the Asia Cup fast approaching and the T20I World Cup going after that, Team India is in the process of identifying youngsters who can make it to the World Cup and add some value to it. In the first ODI, Team India performed brilliantly against the hosts, beating them in all departments of the game. Deepak Chahar in particular was the one who broke the back of Zimbabwe’s innings as he took three wickets at the start of his innings.

Courtesy of Chahar’s performance, India restrained Zimbabwe and did not allow them to touch the 200 mark. Following the bowlers, the pair of Shikhar Dhawan And Shubman Gill Chasing the target fast, registered a thumping victory by 10 wickets. Deepak Chahar returned to international cricket after a long wait. India’s fast bowler missed the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a back injury but has recovered his form and fitness which is good news for Team India and a good headache for the selectors ahead of the T20I World Cup to be played in Australia later this year .

For his stellar performances, Chahar was awarded the player of the match as he registered figures of 3/27 against Zimbabwe and feels his hard work has paid off. When asked about getting selected for the T20I World Cup, Chahar said that he can only work hard and the matters of selection are not in his hands and further added that his entire focus is on improving his skills.

,I think I have done well and it seems that I have never given up and if we can bowl out the first two overs, I think I have done well. I bowled seven overs in one run and that is probably an indication that my fitness level is at par with international standards.”, said an enthusiastic Deepak Chahar.

As India won the first ODI, they would like to go ahead and win the second ODI as well and win the series.
