India condemns Peshawar mosque blast, expresses condolences to families of victims of terror attack

New Delhi: India has expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the deadly terrorist attack on Monday in Peshawar, Pakistan. Geo News quoted Radio Pakistan as saying that the death toll has risen to 90 and more than 100 people have been injured. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi wrote on Twitter, “India expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the terrorist attack in Peshawar yesterday. We strongly condemn the attack which has claimed so many lives. ”

The blast took place in the central hall of the mosque at around 1 pm on Monday, when a suicide bomber blew himself up. Geo News quoted an official as saying that rescue operations are underway to retrieve the bodies from the debris of the mosque.

Earlier, an eyewitness said that there were at least 120 people in the mosque at the time of the explosion. He said most of the injured were police personnel.
