India has made significant progress in reducing multidimensional poverty, which has reduced by almost half to 27.5% during 2005-06 and 2015-16 due to the progress of the poorest. Within the next 10 years, the number of poor people in India declined by over 270 million, which is a great achievement,” said former Reserve Bank of India governor and noted economist C. Rangarajan said.
