Although he didn’t name anyone, it was apparently a reference to Pakistan, which is bordered by India and China to the west.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said at an event here on Friday that India was progressing economically, but its western and northern borders were not secure enough for people to sleep peacefully.

Although he did not name anyone, it was apparently a reference to Pakistan, which is bordered by India and China to the west.

“Our country is making progress today. It is also gaining prestige, stature and wealth. The spread of patriotism among people is evident and that is why we have got the leadership (chairmanship) of the G20, however, there are many challenges.” Bhagwat said in the program of RSS.

“Our western and northern borders are not so secure that we can sleep peacefully. Our soldiers have to stay awake and we (civilians) have to stay awake too,” he said.

The RSS chief asserted that people with vested interests are trying to defame India in various ways while we are making progress and there is a need to fight an “intellectual battle” with such forces.

“Though we have progressed economically, poverty has not gone from the country. The work (of development) is still incomplete. We have to fight these challenges.

Bhagwat said that our society will have to unite to fight these challenges.
