‘India is…’ says Maruti Suzuki MD, PM Modi lays foundation stone of C-295 aircraft facility

Hisashi Takuchi, Managing Director, Maruti Suzuki, commented on the sidelines of the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for the C-295 Cargo Aircraft Production Plant in Vadodara, Gujarat that the fast growing Indian market has immense business potential. “India is a growing market and has huge business potential. For most companies overseas, it is a good market to enter. Moving to India is a wise decision for any company,” Hisashi Takeuchi, MD, Maruti Suzuki on the Tata-Airbus project.

On the self-reliant India initiative taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Takeuchi said, “Two months ago in August, in Gujarat we completed 40 years of Suzuki Motor Corporation in India. A collaboration and match of Japanese working culture and Indian working culture. It’s perfect. I hope this kind of good matching will help the industry grow further.”

Speaking further on Suzuki’s future plans in India, he said, “We have expanded our Gujarat operations with EV production and battery factory in Gujarat. Also, we have already started our manufacturing in Kharkhoda, Haryana. New factory there.”

As India-Japan relations touch 70 years, Maruti Suzuki MD said, “We are celebrating 70 years of our cooperation. We have a long history of progress between the two countries. The combination of these two cultures is a good one. Mail is there and it will be strengthened. Further in the future.”

On the bullet train project in Gujarat, he said, “The bullet train project in Gujarat is a very important project. It is a national project and Japan is strongly supporting it. I hope it will be a great success.”

PM Modi stressed that the relations between Gujarat and Japan have always been higher than mere diplomatic relations. “I remember when the Vibrant Gujarat Summit started in 2009, Japan has been associated as a partner country since then,” the Prime Minister said. “The success of Maruti-Suzuki is also a sign of the strong India-Japan partnership. Over the past eight years, these relations between our two countries have reached new heights,” he said.

The Prime Minister further spoke at length about the benefits of electric vehicles. “One of the great features of electric vehicles is that they are silent.
