Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that the Indian government is taking action against activities like spamming and intrusion of privacy data, especially in the banking sector.

Addressing a group of Indian journalists at a press conference here on Saturday, Ms Sitharaman said the government has Old data protection bill withdrawn And a new one is likely to come soon.

During this, action is being taken on spamming and unwanted calls and messages. The Finance Minister said that the government is working seriously to stop such activities which is not right.

“But of course, they keep on coming. It is not that till yesterday everything was extinguished and nothing happened today. They keep coming out like mushrooms, but the government understands the matter very well and efforts are on. The Finance Minister said in response to a question.

Even in new data or digital based services that are being expanded to ones like account aggregators, there is a conscious effort to ensure that the consent of the data owner is used for that specific purpose. is used and used for which consent is given, the FM said.

“There is a high level of oversight, especially in the banking sector, which I monitor closely. Even in account aggregators, where we came to know of any kind of misuse by some outsourced elements, we have strictly closed it,” Ms Sitharaman said.

“You must have heard about the arrest of some people who misused this type of data app to lend money. Especially in Andhra and Telangana, we arrested a lot of citizens from one country who were misusing data,” the FM said apparently referring to several Chinese nationals.

“So the action is happening equally, the preventive steps are happening equally. But of course, it has to be maintained,” the FM said.
