The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday said that while India reported 255,874 new infections in the last 24 hours, there was a significant reduction in fresh Covid cases, but the daily death toll rose to 614. With the new deaths, the toll has reached 4,90,462.

Meanwhile, the active caseload has gone up to 22,36,842, which is 5.62% of the total positive cases in the country.
With 2,67,753 patients getting cured in the last 24 hours, the cumulative number has increased to 3,70,71,898. As a result, India’s recovery rate stands at 93.15%. Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate dropped to 15.52%, and the weekly positivity rate stood at 17.17%.
Also, a total of 16,49,108 tests were conducted across the country in the same period. India has so far handled more than a cumulative 71.88 crores testing,
With the administration of around 49,52,290 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID vaccination coverage has reached 162.77 crores as of Tuesday morning. Out of which 93.01 crore people have been given the first dose of vaccine while 68.88 crore people have been fully vaccinated. More than 87 lakh (87,33,359) precautionary doses have been given to health workers, frontline workers and people aged 60 years and above.
Also 4,25,44,326 adolescents aged 15-18 have received the first dose.
