The yatra began after 6.30 am on Sunday and senior leaders including Ramesh Chennithala, K Muraleedharan, Kodikunnil Suresh, KC Venugopal and Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan were among the top leaders seen along with Rahul Gandhi on the 13-km-long maiden yatra. went. The leg of the march on the 11th day.

Like in many other instances, Gandhi was seen breaking the security cordon in between to meet the people waiting on either side of the road. After walking for over an hour, they took a break to have tea at a local hotel on the way. The Congress party said the morning session of the yatra would end after reaching Ottappana and the members would rest at Karuvatta nearby, reports PTI.

As per the schedule, the yatra will start at 5 pm from Purkkad which is 6.5 km from Karuvatta and Gandhi will travel that distance by vehicle along with other members. The evening session is scheduled to end at 7 PM near TD Medical College Hospital, Vandanam.

On the 11th day, the evening leg of the journey is expected to cover a distance of 7.5 km. Members of the yatra will stop at Carmel College of Engineering and Technology, Punnapara, which is 3.4 km away. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh tweeted that Gandhi will meet the farmers of Kuttanad during the morning break.

The Congress party’s 3,570-km and 150-day long march began on September 7 from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu and will end in Jammu and Kashmir. The Bharat Jodi Yatra, which entered Kerala on the evening of September 10, will pass through the state covering a distance of 450 kms, touching seven districts over a period of 19 days, before entering Karnataka on October 1.
