Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja said that India pulled out of this year’s Asia Cup as they were not allowing the winning combination to be set by making too many changes in the team.

The Indian team’s campaign in the UAE got off to a good start after beating Pakistan and Hong Kong in the group stages. However, things settled down in the Super Four stage as Rohit Sharma and his men lost back-to-back games to Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Despite the victory against Afghanistan, other results did not favor India and they were knocked out of the tournament before the final.

Speaking ahead of the Asia Cup final as quoted by News18, Raja drew a comparison between India and Pakistan and explained why Raja is always using the same combination.

The PCB chief also said that India made too many changes and did not allow the winning model to be set and that is why they were knocked out of the Asia Cup without reaching the final.

“You have seen the ranking of the team; Results are also visible. If we compare the teams of India and Pakistan then people are asking me why am I playing the same combination? You will hurt them or so I have to say we have handled a special situation and won the matches. So, why should I change the winning model,” said King.

“India went down only because they are not allowing the model to be set. They are changing a lot. They have a huge pool of players that they are experimenting with. So, unless you have that kind of bench strength, you don’t need to experiment.”

“You have a strong position so just hold on to it and keep winning games,” he said.

The final between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will be held on Sunday, September 11.
